We are trying to find out about ways people receive expenses in cash when they attend meetings. Can you help? Do you have a story (good or bad)? You don't have to use your real name if you don't want to. Or you can phone or email me (see about us).
Thanks Bryan

I think reimbursing people cash for money they have spent in expenses is a good idea. Often expenses systems can mean people are out of pocket for a long time before they are reimbursed. This often prevents people from wanting to take part.

I'm involved in several groups and the way my expenses are paid tends to fall into 2 ways. For work done with voluntary sector groups, they tend to pay cash on the day up to a certain amount, after that it is by cheque which can take up to thirty days. For non-voluntary sector organisations, it can take up to 6 weeks for expenses to be paid. The longest time I have had to wait for expenses is almost 3 months.

Doing voluntary work for local authorities are the worst, where you have to wait up to 9weeks for travel money, which can be very difficult for people with limited income.
The only way is for the volunteer to be paid up on the day, all ccounted for through petty cash, and travel forms and slips for signature proving payment,
