The role of the Involving People Officer:
The most important part of my role is being the first point of contact for Involving People – whether for requests or enquiries from researchers, the general public or Network members. There are a range of administrative duties I am responsible for, including assisting with the Advisory Group meetings, processing expenses, booking venues, travel and accommodation. I also put together the monthly e-bulletins, and I am currently updating content of the Involving People website. When we advertise Involvement opportunities, I collate the expressions of interest and log the information on our database. I’m also responsible for issuing & logging feedback forms, which give Network members the chance to view their opinions on the events, training and research that they have been involved in.
What I did before Involving People:
Before joining Involving People I worked in a variety of environments - including Food Standards Agency Wales, Cardiff Women’s Aid and BBC Wales. I came to Cardiff in 2000 to study English Literature at Cardiff University and have never left!
What I want to do, but haven’t done yet:
So many things – but I’d love to see the Northern lights. I’ve come close in Finland but cloudy weather ruined our view!
Favourite famous quotation:
‘Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the war room' - Peter Sellers as The President in Dr Strangelove.
