What I do as a member of the IP Advisory Group:
I try to give a patient’s perspective of intended or current research.
When and why I joined Involving People:
I joined Involving People in late 2007. I wanted to become involved in any way I could to help focus research projects on the needs of patients.
What I did before Involving People:
I was a University and Further Education Teacher before developing Pernicious Anaemia that, because it was undiagnosed for a long time, left me with a permanent disability and I had to take early retirement from my career. I set up and run the Pernicious Anaemia Society.
What I want to do, but haven’t done yet:
I would like to help develop a way in which the people affected by the research can play an active part in the outline research proposals.
Favourite famous quotation:
"Ever since I’ve been born I’ve had this feeling that something is going on and nobody is telling me about it"
